Introduction to Paragraph Writing
Writing a good piece of text academically requires students’ basic writing proficiency, particularly in paragraph writing. Their failure in writing a good paragraph may lead to poor academic writing competence. This underlies the importance of providing references as well as guidance as an aid for students to write a good paragraph.
Genre-based writing, in addition to process writing, has been of great interests among writing experts and researchers due to its importance in writing across contexts which requires different conventions. This book attempts to accommodate it by covering not only process writing but also genre-based writing aspects. It covers paragraph structure, unity and coherence, and topics on types of paragraph writing genres such as narrative, descriptive, and cause[1]effect. Several paragraph models illustrating the generic structure of each of the genres, exercises, and writing platforms are also provided to help teachers as well as self-learners in paragraph writing.
This book is expected to benefit not only writing teachers and students, but also those attempting to improve the quality of their academic paragraph writing in English.
